Some manufacturers who need indexers, when selecting indexers, do not consider the speed issue, causing the entire turntable to shake during high-speed operation of the automated system. This is what we call the instability of the indexer operation. This situation can easily lead to a decrease in the accuracy of the entire automated system, and may even affect the offset of the indexing positioning.
Currently, there is no defined standard for the speed of the indexer. What we are discussing is the easily occurring shaking situation in practical applications. Under normal circumstances, the speed of the Yingrui indexer can reach 600 RPM, which means that the input shaft rotation speed can reach 10 revolutions per second. Even higher speeds can reach 800 RPM. In this case, the mechanical performance of the indexer is a great test. Therefore, we consider the situation where the input shaft speed is less than 1 revolution per second as high-speed operation of the indexer.
When the indexer is operating at high speed, during the switching process from movement to stop, or from stop to start, a large inertial impact will be generated. The switching point on the cam surface and the mechanical matching movement of the output turret are the main reasons for the indexer's shaking. The highest level of mechanical movement does not rely on transmission. We usually say that the input cam of the indexer drives the output turret movement, but the actual mechanical movement should be a harmonious match between the components. This requires that from the design stage, including the indexer cam and output turret, the harmonious combination of point, line, and surface between the curved cam and the roller should be considered from the program to the processing. From the perspective of mechanical movement, the friction caused by mechanical wear and tear should be reduced to the greatest extent possible.
During the operation of the indexer, the contact between curved surfaces is inevitable. Therefore, the use of materials and the precision of processing will have a significant impact on the connection and friction between components. The hardness of the material and the smoothness of the cam surface processing are the reasons for the shaking of the indexer components during rotation.
